As soon as we arrived at Huvafen Fushi, a quick 45-minute boat ride from Male airport, we knew we had arrived at a luxurious and magical corner of the world. An area reserved for pure white sand, turquoise waters, and Huvafen Fushi’s signature essence. The adult-only resort perfectly blends natural beauty with glamour, sophistication, and a playful sexiness. It was recently voted the Most Romantic Resort at the 2018 Maldives Travel Awards hosted by MATATO. It’s no surprise the intoxicating property has attracted celebrities including George Clooney, Kate Moss, and Katy Perry.

Our kind butler greeted us at the arrival jetty and swept us away to our Deluxe Beach Bungalow with Pool. The swanky accommodations felt like a cocoon of pure tranquility. The sliding glass door led to a patch of soft sand, endless ocean views, and private deck with loungers. The exquisite and humongous bathroom included a waterfall shower, bathtub, peaceful garden, and our own freshwater plunge pool.

The most decadent is the PlayPen, a grand beach pavilion measuring 800 sqm, which is decorated in a style that mixes modern Parisian sophistication with vintage nostalgia. An elevated master bedroom featuring an oversized ocean view bath, private steam and sauna wet area and balcony overlook a black lava stone infinity pool. The PlayPen

The Huvafen Spa is a transcendent oasis that includes Pearl, the first underwater spa in the world. As you descend the staircase below sea level, you slip into a dream-like realm of blue. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience luxurious beauty treatments while admiring colorful fish and the occasional tiger shark swimming by the glass window. Conveniently located near the spa is the delightful RAW Cafe, which offers delicious organic cold-pressed juices and smoothies.

Pearl, Underwater Spa

The Maldivian waters boast some of the best snorkeling and diving in the world. Huvafen Fushi offers excellent excursions, including private snorkeling tours and the opportunity to visit diving sites and witness manta rays, sharks, and even a shipwreck. Around twilight every evening, guests are invited to watch a stingray feeding on the island’s Stingray Beach. Every night at the same time, a group of rays swim towards the beach knowing they will be fed by the island’s marine biologist. Each ray has been given a nickname and guests can learn about their distinctive personalities.

The morning begins with a scrumptuous breakfast at the seaside restaurant Celsius. For lunch, it is delightful to dine alfresco at the charming Forno located under a grove of coconut trees. Forno serves delicious homemade pasta and artisinal pizzas made in a wood-fire oven. For dinner, the resort’s restaurant Feeling Koi is a truly memorable experience. Set in a sensuous ambiance under the stars, the celebrated chef creates tantalising Japanese dishes with an alluring Latin twist like the Maldivian Lobster, Wagyu Beef Tacos, and mouthwatering sushi rolls. A Saki sommelier is on hand to guide you through the impressive Saki menu.
